Savannah enjoyed signing Jaelyn's cast who was down for a visit. Alex went home with Brian and Jenny for a few days too.

Day 217 - August 5, 2014

Over this long weekend, we remembered Hennie Pennings who lost her battle with cancer. We pray for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who will miss her a lot. Praying for strength and comfort as they return to their daily routines of life.

Day 218 - August 6, 2014

We picked up a wireless speaker that we can just take along in the van as the radio does not work very well...we all love to listen to music and Adventures in Odyssey when we are out and about.

Day 219 - August 7, 2014

I did Alex's paper route today since he is still away. While doing his route, I came across this butterfly. I think something got at it...it couldn't or wouldn't fly.

Day 220 - August 8, 2014

Today is apparently World Cat Day...here is Alex trying to cut wood to block ways that Pumpkin escapes the back yard. He is definitely exploring his surroundings.

Day 2 of VBS...thankful that it is going well. Here's Alex with his friend Jackson and Savannah heading to go play basketball.

Day 225 - August 13, 2014

Loved finding this on the paper covering the tables at Day 3 of VBS...

Day 226 - August 14, 2014

Day 4 of VBS and we took a group shot...so thankful for all the kids that God brought to us so that we could share the good news of the gospel. Thanks to Kim who organizes the whole week so well and for all those who help in any way...from canvassing, teaching, playing sports, preparing snacks, craft helpers, etc.

Day 227 - August 15, 2014

The last day of VBS and we love having a great big pizza party and a short program to let the kids share what they learned for the week.

Day 228 - August 16, 2014

While getting a few things at Walmart, I found this stuffed animal and thought it may have been lost...When I picked it up, it had a note attached to it to return it to the Photo Studio for a prize. Great idea to get someone to come in and book a session. I won a free 10x13...so I booked for next week and figured the kids can get a picture done...I think I'll let them choose their own clothes for the shoot so it will be a picture like an everyday day in our life.

Day 229 - August 17, 2014

Finally got a Vitamix...sure hope it is worth the money...I got it last week but haven't had time to open it...first smoothie coming up :)

Day 230 - August 18, 2014

Pumpkin decided to explore the neighbourhood and we were bummed he didn't come back...until yesterday...but it must have tuckered him out. He slept on me for over an hour and he also slept on Alex and watched a movie.

Day 231 - August 19, 2014

Lots of beans from the garden...I love that the VMS kids all want to help get them ready to eat.

Day 232 - August 20, 2014

Pumpkin loving his new toy...great scratching post for when he comes inside and is a little high-strung.

Day 233 - August 21, 2014

My van has kinda died and is out of commission. So I knew we would have to be using Mark's PT Cruiser...I decided to set to work and clean it out really good.

Day 234 - August 22, 2014

I fell in love with something at the Gospel Lighthouse and thankfully it was 60% off...it's even on the wall already!?!?

Day 235 - August 23, 2014

Big long awaited day...a trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame and we took in a Toronto Blue Jays game. The Jays won 5-4 in extra innings.

Day 236 - August 24, 2014

We had a hard time finding Pumpkin before church this morning...we found him hiding under the deck and he seemed very disoriented, lethargic and so not himself. We eventually ended feeding him via syringe as he was not eating or drinking.

Day 237 - August 25, 2014

Alex woke early this morning, checked on and fed Pumpkin, and then slept on the couch after that. We took Pumpkin to the vet and unfortunately he is one sick kitten. In short, they didn't know for sure what he had, but that he was very very sick. They suggested we either put him down or run a lot of tests to try and figure out exactly what it was. We ended taking him home and he seemed to perk up in the evening so we thought he was recovering. A lot of the kids (and myself too) cried on and off all day which made it a really hard day. Savannah drew a picture of Pumpkin and wrote a letter to God asking Him to heal Pumpkin.

Day 238 - August 26, 2014

Today was a heartbreaking day as pumpkin got even sicker and had a couple seizures and we had to put him down...we were so sad but thankful for the time we had with Pumpkin. We grew very close during these hard last couple of days.

We (Kim, the kids and I) had a tenting excursion already planned and we sadly set off to hopefully have a distraction from the last few days. Setting up tents and being almost done when it started to rain a bit definitely took our mind off Pumpkin. We enjoyed learning to make a fire to cook our kabobs on...it was a very yummy supper followed by s'mores later in the evening.

Day 239 - August 27, 2014

We woke with the day ahead of us with no real plans but to have fun...started at the park, walks to enjoy nature, horse shoes and shuffle board, sand hill fun, playing in the lake, a pie iron supper, s'mores and hotdog roasting...a great busy day!

Day 240 - August 28, 2014

Waking up on our last day at Sandhill Park, it was sooooo cold. The boys joined us in the girls tent very early in the morning and we all tried to cuddle and warm up (except for Carsten who stayed on Savannah's bed).

After a yummy newly created pancake with leftover marshmallows and jersey milks...s'more pancake...can I say yum? :D

While we were taking down our tent stuff...Alex rescued me again by killing a big spider. He deserved an extra big hug.

We made a stop at the St. Jacob's Farmers Market and the Lego store across the road.

Day 241 - August 29, 2014

Today we are dealing with tenting laundry and cleaning up the house...we thought we'd see if we had all the school supplies that the kids would need and discovered that 2 out of the 3 kids didn't empty their binders/gymbags etc.

And Mark playing Pokemon with Alex was a great way to end the day.

Day 242 - August 30, 2014

A return trip to the Farmer's Market brought new sunglasses for a few of us :)

Day 243 - August 31, 2014

When we arrived at Oma and Opa's for a visit, I watched this monarch fly around their yard. It was so beautiful to watch.
