Days 115-118 (April 25-28, 2013)

Day 115 - April 25, 2013

Western Day at school. Here's a picture I snapped of Carsten before we left for school.

Day 116 - April 26, 2013

We watched a great movie called Ring the Bell. I would highly recommend watching it. A piece of the movie that hit me was during the Casting Crowns concert...

A song might change your afternoon but its not going to change your life. It's going to take something way more than feeling good and feeling better to change your life. I can't live by what I feel but I live by the truth that God's Word reveals.

And when I stand before God one day, He's not going to ask me how I felt, He's not going to ask me what church I went to, He's not going to ask me how many good things I do and how many bad things I stopped doing, What He's going to ask me is what did I do with Jesus?

Because we are all in the same boat down here. No one here is any more a train wreck than the guy standing up here with a microphone right now. We're lost, we're broken, we're fallen and we can't fix ourselves. So don't come to a concert and hear this and then think 'I need to go get good and come back to God' because you can't. It's way too late to get good. I've got to realize that I'm broken and I'm fallen and I need Jesus. And God says in His Word that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we'll be saved. Confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord. Lord is not a nickname for Jesus. Lord means King. To be His, is to confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and King of my life forever and I will follow my King forever. I believe in my heart that the same God that raised Jesus from the dead can raise me from the dead. That's so much bigger than trying to be better. It's realizing, 'Lord I need you, I'm desperate and I lay my life at Your feet. I turn from from the sin in my life and I'm following you to be Yours'

Day 117 - April 27, 2013

Carsten and Savannah stayed up to watch the last regular season game of the Detroit Red Wings. I think the kids were OK with the Wings not making the playoffs til now as I was letting them watch more hockey lately just in case they missed the playoffs. Thankfully they made it for 22 consecutive seasons.

Day 118 - April 28, 2013

Supper tonight...pita pizza

Day 114 - April 24, 2013

Today was our last Wednesday Morning Bible Study for the season. We studied this book, "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World". I have thoroughly enjoyed this study and how much it has 'forced' me to take a look at my life and relationship with God. I love how we are learning together as a group of women.

From the back of the book...

"The life of a woman today isn’t really all that different from that of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long to sit at the Lord’s feet…but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve him… yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy.

Then comes Jesus, right into the midst of your busy life to extend the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters of Bethany. Tenderly, he invites you to choose "the better part"- a joyful life of intimacy with him that flows naturally into loving service.

After witnessing a few baptisms, we decided to head to visit family. When Abby and Savannah get together at Grandma and Grandpa's house on Sundays, they often plan a concert. Here is Jaelyn singing with Savannah accompanying her on piano.

The whole school went on a trip to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). There was so much to see we may have to go back with a family to see the rest of it. Here is Carsten and his friend Thomas.

Days 92-100 (April 2-11 2013)

Day 92 - April 2, 2013

I often find stuff like this laying around the house. Someday I will probably wish I had it laying around. This is a stash of Carsten's Lego by his bed.

Day 93 - April 3, 2013

7:09 AM and the kids were till sleeping!?!?!

Day 94 - April 4, 2013

My back, neck and shoulder has been incredibly sore and makes moving around to do things quite painful. Savannah wanted to help out with Mark being away and insisted on making supper. The boys enjoyed her supper of grilled cheese. It was super helpful to me and I was thankful for her willingness to help. I love Savannah's look of concentration in this picture.

Day 95 - April 5, 2013

Mark had to head out to Boston to work on a project at Bank of America. Hopefully that's his last business trip for a while.

Day 96 - April 6, 2013

Carsten has recently become fascinated with knights because of a series of books he has taken a  liking to. He has become enamored with sword fighting and some foam swords have kept him, his friends and siblings very busy. En Garde Tucker!

Day 97 - April 7, 2013

This weekend was a great weekend that we spent with some friends that we don't get to see often. After church we grabbed a quick change of clothes and spent some time enjoying the beautiful day God gave us. Beau and Savannah had a great time swinging.

Day 98 - April 8, 2013

Alex is a bit rough on his bed from time to time. So he thought he would fix it up himself. Does duck tape really fix everything??? Time will tell...

Day 99 - April 9, 2013

A little nail polish on the fingernails for Savannah.

Day 100 - April 10, 2013

Alex finished up his Science Fair display. He is very excited to show his homemade hover craft and maybe give a ride or two.

Day 91 - April 1, 2013

Alex was working on his science project and Savannah was helping him out by having a ride on his homemade hovercraft. They were thrilled that it actually worked! It even carried Carsten and Jared at the same time. There's a quick video of Savannah going for a ride after.
