Too many people couldn't make our craft/scrapbooking day this month at church, so we had to cancel. Rena came over today to scrapbook and I worked on paperwork. We had a great time chatting...next time I hope I scrapbook too :)
I am trying to keep a bit of a journal of the happenings in our life. Our life is not just the pretty pictures and fun things I post, but it is also the dirty dishes that overflow the sink, never ending laundry, baked cookie fails, sibling squabbles, sickness, work trips, school stuff, and all the nitty gritty. I just want to respect the people that I am sharing life with. Just remember that...Life is more than what I post on Facebook or my Blog.

Day 58 - February 27, 2013
After hearing some great music played on Sunday by church organist Joan teBokkel, I asked about what book it came out of...Psalms for All Seasons...I ordered the book Monday from Amazon and it was at my door this afternoon. We are eager to crack it open and learn some new songs :)

Day 57 - February 26, 2013
Savannah had some homework to do today...she was excited to get it done. In the after-school chaos, Savannah had to watch an animal and fill out the sheet and draw a picture. She chose the ever educational show of Phineas and Ferb and did it on Perry the Platapus. While I am not a big cartoon fan, I think she did a great job.

Day 56 - February 25, 2013
Today's picture is a map that Carsten drew of his Minecraft city Carstenioville. While I have no real desire to play this game, the rest of the family enjoys it. Carsten was the first person to pique my interest by adding an Ikea store to his mall on Minecraft...he knows his mom :)
Day 55 - February 24, 2013
We played Apples to Apples Bible edition yesterday in between church. Some of the cards brought questions and it was neat to chat with the kids about things from the Bible.

Day 54 - February 23, 2013
This morning was fun as we made our way to a bowling alley to use a Groupon before it expired. While neither of us care to be in pictures...I chose this one because it's special that Mark came with us...often we do these kind of things when he is travelling for work or on PA Days.

Day 50 - February 19, 2013
I love it when my husband takes the kids to school, especially after a rough start to the morning...it means I can get right into the tasks that I have to do today or take a minute to have a quick breakfast. It makes me thankful that I am not in this parenting alone. Thank you Mark!!

Day 49 - February 18, 2013
Today was Family Day. The kids spent quite a bit of time building new Lego creations. I snapped a picture of one of the new Lego minifigures...it's the one I wanted to get...so I traded my rollerskating minifigure for the chicken minifigure :D

Day 48 - February 17, 2013
This weekend we had very little downtime. I had not taken a picture yet today so after the VMS kids were picked up and my kids in bed, I asked Alex if he could be in the picture of the day. So here is the our self taken picture

Day 47 - February 16, 2013
Yesterday we had a sleepover with family and friends, waking to spend the day together. We had lots of fun at the Lego themed birthday party. Here is a picture before we enjoyed a cupcake cake. I now have some idea what kind of party Savannah has had in the last two years...and can I say WOW!!!

Day 46 - February 15, 2013
This afternoon Lexi, Ryan and Savannah celebrated their birthdays with a party at the bowling alley. It was a great time of bowling, eating and a gift exchange. The kids were thrilled that Mrs Groenenberg and Miss M came out too :)

Day 45 - February 14, 2013
Do you know how hard it is to not yell at your kids to get moving and get ready for school when it's 7:45 and they are still in their pajamas?
It's hard...especially when they are supposed to be dressed like that...
Today was PJ Day at school :D

Day 44 - February 13, 2013
Laundry has been put on the back burner again...it's clean but just needs to be folded. I asked Carsten to sort it into the different bins while he watches some hockey and I will fold it later tonight...He dumped all the baskets of clothes on the floor and when I came back after finishing up a game with Alex, Carsten was lounging with all the clean laundry on the floor around him. He smiles and says, "I got a little sidetracked".

Day 42 - February 11, 2013
I was going to take a picture of just my overnight bag, but decided to have Alex take a picture of me with my bag packed. This year packing my bag was exciting for me and not filled with apprehension. This year I packed for a sleepover with Savannah at Kim's, not packing for a hospital stay. The last two years, I was in the hospital on Savannah's birthday following surgeries. This year I am so thankful to God that I am able to have a sleepover with two very special ladies in my life. The last two years, Kim helped make Savannah's birthday extra special while I was unable to and I loved seeing the planning but was bummed I never got to join the festivities. Although I haven't been feeling all that great lately, I am so excited to join in the party fun this year :D

Day 41 - February 10, 2013
Carsten and Mark were shoveling the ice off the walkway and driveway so we could get to the vehicle. They looked so handsome shoveling in their Sunday best. Mark didn't want his picture taken :( Hopefully I will be able to convince him someday.
Day 40 - February 9, 2013
Just got home from a great evening out to support the kids school. We are happy to have gotten a beautiful Doll bed with sheets, pillows, hats, and clothes. I think the Day out with Miss M will make a someone's day too :) Thanks to all the auction committee members who worked so hard to make the evening a success. Great job!

Day 38 - February 7, 2013
I've not been feeling so well lately, so today's picture was a really quick snap and thankfully Carsten was willing to be photographed. Carsten was very excited to read today because this was the book he bought from Scholastic with his own money.

Day 36 - February 5, 2013
Sometimes the iPod is taken away for a while and I think it is just as hard on Jared as it is on my own kids ;) Today was the first day back for Alex and his Mini-Me AKA Jared...they were so happy.

Day 35 - February 4, 2013
Tonight I had a sewing lesson from Joan teBokkel at Just Sew Sewing School...wow there's so much to learn! Here I am learning how to make button holes on some spare material. Tomorrow I will hopefully finish up my project.

We went to visit Oma and Opa after church this afternoon. I am thrilled to get a picture of the kids with Oma and they are all looking at the camera :)

Day 33 February 2, 2013
I love watching hockey. Carsten and Savannah are always more than willing to join me and I love the bonding time we get. Needing some time to chill, we sat down to watch the Wings play tonight. Sometimes the kids get a bit excited...no idea where they get that from ;)

Day 32 - February 1, 2013
Today we gathered together as family and friends to remember the life of Aunt Willie. We pray especially for Uncle Paul, Rick & Liz, Henry and Stacey and their children as they had a difficult day as they brought their much loved wife, mother, Oma (Big Oma) to rest. Pastor Tim had a great message for us all...Do you believe? Aunt Willie will not be forgotten and we pray for peace, strength and comfort in the coming days, months and years ahead.
