Day 60-90 (March 1-31, 2014)

Day 60 - March 1, 2014

Out shopping for some summer clothes and hoping to find a good deal...40% off is nice to see

Day 61 - March 2, 2014

Alex's Catechism book...he really enjoys going out to YPS and Catechism on Tuesday nights.

Day 62 - March 3, 2014

Savannah and her baby dolls nicely tucked in and all ready for bed.

Day 63 - March 4, 2014

The joys of sharing a room...or not. One boy tidies his side of the room and the other not so much...toys, clothes, blankets, pillows, etc.  Funny how they both just cleaned their room and one just doesn't understand why he gets sent back to clean it up again.

Day 64 - March 5, 2014

Getting ready to go...Packing up for our Tennessee trip with a stop at the Red Wing game first.

Day 65 - March 6, 2014

What a night! Mark and I attended the game where the Red Wings retired Lidstrom's #5 to the rafters at the Joe. Following the ceremony, we watched the Wings play Colorado and the game ended with a  disappointing overtime loss. Since I was trying to pack light, I just grabbed my camera with the bigger lens, leaving my smaller lens at the hotel...unfortunately I couldn't use it and had to check the camera in and pick it up at the end of the game. So iPhone pictures and a couple from the internet had to do. We took the people mover back to our hotel after the game. Thank you to Kim for watching the kiddos!

Day 66 - March 7, 2014

Today we got up and left our hotel in Detroit and headed to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. Lunch was a trip to Chick-fil-a (our first time) and boy was it yummy. We had a good time exploring the museum.

Day 67 - March 8, 2014

We left our hotel in Florence Kentucky and started our last leg of the trip to Tennessee. We had lunch at Chick-fil-a again...it became my favourite after the first time. We arrived at our chalet and unloaded  all our stuff. Supper was out at the Alamo with the whole family and here are the grandkids outside.

Day 68 - March 9, 2014

Lots of games being played in-between church today. Pool games had many strategies.

Day 69 - March 10, 2014

Today was a visit to Nascar Speedpark...it is a very fun place and the best deal in the Smokies...$20/person for the whole day of racing around and blaming accidents on others. We took breaks for meals...Chick-fil-a for lunch and Golden Corral for supper...I think the kids loved the buffet, complete with chocolate fountains and cotton candy.

Day 70 - March 11, 2014

Today we hiked on Porters Creek Trail. We stopped a few times along the way to explore and one or two people (Savannah and Daniel) may have fallen in some water. Thanks Kim for taking our family picture at the waterfall. Thanks Mark for taking Kim and my picture on the way back from the falls.

Day 71 - March 12, 2014

Today some of the ladies (chauffeured by Mark) went to bring Kim to the airport. We followed that up with a  trip to Hobby Lobby...lots of game and chilling was happening at the chalet.

Day 72 - March 13, 2014

Today Grandpa & Grandma, Brian & Jenny, Jaelyn & Ava joined us on an adventure to Wonderworks. It is a great interactive place of learning and fun. We had a fabulous time there at many exhibits including Xtreme 360, Earthquake Cafe, Hurricane Shack, Bed of Nails, Rock Climbing, Strike a Pose, Mission to Mars, Astronaut Training Challenge, Laser Tag and the list goes on. We finished the day up with visiting Gatlinburg for some shopping, moonshine samples and a sample stop at All Sauced Up.

P.S...one should not try a salsa sample with the name reaper in the title...unless fully prepared for the consequences.

Day 73 - March 14, 2014

Today we drove and walked around Caves Cove. Such beautiful scenery and a time of reflection as we took in churches, cemeteries, cabins and barns surrounded by God's beautiful creation.

Day 74 - March 15, 2014

This was our Tennessee chalet for the week. We were able to spend time together as a family but we missed you Melissa and Kyle. We were fortunate to have Kim join us for a couple days too. Today we headed back home nice and early...it took us 11 hours.

Day 75 - March 16, 2014

Enjoying our first day back home...I took a break from taking lots of pictures, so here is the one for today...Josefina and Bella in their new outfits from Tennessee.

Day 76 - March 17, 2014

The kids had their last day of March Break today...all the kids decorated pencil holders. Here's Carsten's Star Wars themed pencil holder.

Day 77 - March 18, 2014

The weather is getting warmer and the neighbourhood kids are coming out to play some road hockey...I enjoyed getting out and playing with them too.

Day 78 - March 19, 2014

The kids goofing around with dessert after supper. Can you tell we don't often have dessert?

Day 79 - March 20, 2014

The kids usually do a picture score board for the upcoming Wings Games on our wipe board. If the game goes late and they're in bed, I fill in the score for them after the game finishes...This one was a great one to fill in and I can't wait for them to see the highlights as they won with 0.4 seconds left in the game...even Mark got up to see the end.

Day 80 - March 21, 2014

We just found out that the kids would be participating in the Celebration of Arts this week and the kids haven't really practiced much this month...we were just hoping they would do well as it was a bit rushed to get ready. The kids all played piano and thankfully did quite well.

Savannah played March of the Triplets

 Alex played Chopsticks

Carsten played Imperial March and Theme from Symphony No.1

Day 81 - March 22, 2014

Caleb is visiting the area for the week and came over to play today. Alex was thrilled when he realized Caleb liked Minecraft too.

Day 82 - March 23, 2014

Carsten and Savannah were thrilled to get to play Life with Erin today. It's great to have spent time with the family before they head back home tomorrow.

Day 83 - March 24, 2014

The boys were very excited to be off on their Ottawa trip with their Grade 7/8 class. We arrived at school and after a short time of devotions, they were off. They were excited about their upcoming adventure and Savannah was excited to be an only child for a couple days.

Day 84 - March 25, 2014

Today was a quiet and rare afternoon...with school done, it was just Savannah and I...no boys and no VMS kids. We enjoyed the afternoon and when Mark got home we had a movie night with pita pizza, salad, and some veggies...Mark finally got to see what Frozen is all about. So fun.

Day 85 - March 26, 2014

We were happy to welcome the boys back from their Ottawa trip. The boys sweetly brought us girls back a souvenir. Alex got Savannah a Build-a-Bear and Carsten knowing me bought me postcards! Their thoughtfulness made me smile :D

Day 86 - March 27, 2014

I have been fighting the cold and nasty viruses flying around...hoping this homemade chicken soup will help in the fight because I am loosing the fight today.

Day 87 - March 28, 2014

This may look like an ordinary kleenex box but it's special...Puffs Plus Lotion with the scent of Vicks...one really appreciates these when you're not feeling well and blowing your nose a lot.

Day 88 - March 29, 2014

When the cookies disappear quickly...you just have your son make some more. Alex made Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from scratch today. Thanks Alex!

Day 89 - March 30, 2014

Time flies...Alex shaved for the first time today.

Day 90 - March 31, 2014

Rotating toys has its benefits...today I brought out the bin of Thomas the Tank Engine stuff and Rowan loved it! When the kids came home, I suddenly had 6 out of 7 kids playing with it...boy that brings back the memories.

  1. Hi Linda!
Savannah has the same duvet cover as Kylie. I love it!
Your trip looks fabulous and looks like there is a ton to do out there! We often think we should visit their sometime . . . we just drive through on the way to Florida and it does look like a beautiful area!
The Golden Corral is a family tradition for us on our Florida trip too. The close by one closed this year, but we made the drive to the next town so we didn't have to miss out!
How is it that you became Detroit fans?! Go Leafs Go! (I think I can say that heartily again since they snapped their 8 game losing streak)
Hope you are feeling better (we got the cold virus too. Feels especially yucky since its supposed to be spring!)
    Enjoy the lovely weather!!
    Love Denise

    1. Sorry Denise, just saw your comment. Tennessee is great fun...make a stop sometime :) Golden Corral seems to be the kids most favourite place to eat...cant be bad if you can have cotton candy for supper, right? ;)

I grew up in Chatham and we got all the Detroit games and with no one really caring for hockey too much, I was free to choose whatever team I wanted to :) The fun part is I have saw them win the cup 4 times so far :D Go Wings!!

The virus season seemed unusually long...hopefully we both have a great summer.
