Days 305 - 334 (November 1-30, 2014)

Day 305 - November 1, 2014

Kim and I organized the kids' games and prize rooms for the Fall Fair again...so most of my pictures from the day are of our areas...here are a few of some of the fun to be had...

Day 306 - November 2, 2014

We had a good, life impacting sermon in church...there was so much to take away from how Pastor Tim explained Jonah 4. Something that really struck me is when he said how easy it is for us to complain that it is too hard to memorize scripture passages or the catechism. He said it is actually the easy part...it's living the scripture that is hard. Wow! Very convicting.

Day 307 - November 3, 2014

There has been a lot of talk of the shootings that took place in Ottawa at the War Memorial and Parliament. We pray for those who have lost loved ones and are thankful for the many people who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. May we always remember...

Day 308 - November 4, 2014

Today I drove to the mini Volleyball tournament in Stratford and the senior team played very well and came away in first place. I love this picture of Carsten and Hollie blocking...so exciting to watch them execute things they have practiced :)

Day 309 - November 5, 2014

Today I had a chance to catch up with Jenn for lunch. We enjoyed some great food and just caught up with what was going on in our lives...my turn to visit you now Jenn.

Day 310 - November 6, 2014

Here's a picture of the boys room so far...it's hard to get a good picture right now. Chelsea Gray walls with a Rapture Red Wall. It's coming along and can't wait for it to be all done.

Day 311 - November 7, 2014

I love that the kids have been practicing the piano but how I wish we had a bench that held their piano sheet music and books...or that they wouldn't leave it on the floor :)

Day 312 - November 8, 2014

I love it when the kids get their artistic scoreboard for the Wings games going...working on art, penmanship and cursive writing :) And I get to fill in the score for them after they go to bed.

Day 313 - November 9, 2014

To say that Savannah LOVES the Red Wings would be an understatement...her favourite player is Pavel Datsyuk. I came across this picture and thought, wow this looks like it could be Savannah...definitely a dream of hers. Needless to say, we both thought this picture was pretty cool.

Day 314 - November 10, 2014

Today we had an extra visitor after school, Drew had a great time hanging out here. With the older kids at volleyball practice, I think Savannah loved entertaining and playing with the younger kids.

Day 315 - November 11, 2014

They died that we might live...

Day 316 - November 12, 2014

PJ Day at school today...when I went in to take pictures for the yearbook, I noticed that almost everyone participated in this school spirit day. Was it me or did the kids seem more mellow and relaxed working at school in their PJs??

Day 317 - November 13, 2014

Today was a super fun day as the whole school went on a trip to the Black Creek Pioneer Village. It was neat to take a step back in time and see how people lived many years ago. I tried to get a good picture of Savannah on her trip as I led her group...she was not an easy subject as she was too busy doing things and eating the first snowfall.

Day 318 - November 14, 2014

It was pretty cold out for the class trip yesterday so we dug up the mitts, hats, scarves and things to keep us warm...I'm not quite ready for the snow yet...ready or not though, it is comin'

Day 319 - November 15, 2014

Savannah and Mark have been working on her structure project this weekend...After figuring out the scale size, they began building the Freedom Tower (1 World Centre)...each time they started they tried a different material. After a couple of tries, they settled on making the tower out of foam board covered in tinfoil. It's ready to go to school and I think Mark and Savannah are relieved they finished it on Saturday :)

Day 320 - November 16, 2014

I love the new Christmas stockings I found at Kohl's a few weeks ago...Dad, Mom, Alex, Carsten, Savannah and Kim :)

Day 321 - November 17, 2014

What does one do when their vehicle is covered in snow and they can't find their snow brush anywhere??? Use a hockey stick...It works pretty good too.

Day 322 - November 18, 2014

I have been loving the odd nights were Savannah and I can spend some one on one time...after cuddling up for some reading, we settled in to watch the Red Wings game.

Day 323 - November 19, 2014

The kids are enjoying the snow that has arrived...wishing for a snow day...

Day 324 - November 20, 2014

Unfortunately not a snow day but it is still here for us to play with.

Day 325 - November 21, 2014

Today Carsten played in the volleyball tournament for school. It was a great day and after playing hard, the senior team became champions again :)

Day 326 - November 22, 2014

Today the kids tidied up the basement a bit...here is their Lego city that they have been building. Just wondering do the parents here make their kids build new things or are they allowed to just keep what they have already built?

Day 327 - November 23, 2014

Enjoyed playing Triominos with the kids today.

Day 328 - November 24, 2014

We had a crazy amount of wind today with huge gusts...one of the fences down the road blew down...Seems to be a common site today. I am thankful for a warm, sturdy house.

Day 329 - November 25, 2014

Déjà vu ...

Carsten "Do I really need a coat? When I went outside earlier, it didn't feel that cold."

Me: Siri, what's the temperature outside?

Siri: Brrr! It's 2'C outside.

Day 330 - November 26, 2014

Quick trip to Port Huron to find some embellishments for the scrapbooks that have to be done in less than 2 weeks...A trip to Hobby Lobby? Yes please! With so much stuff already on sale and they offer you a coupon too?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hobby Lobby!! We also picked up groceries but the crafting stuff seemed more exciting :)

Day 331 - November 27, 2014

Here's Savannah's "Beary"... one of her favourite stuffed animals.

Day 332 - November 28, 2014

Yesterday was the American Thanksgiving Day...whether American or Canadian, we have so much to be thankful for. God has blessed us with so much...family, food, clean water, shelter, clothing, the gift of His Son...just to name a few.

I realized how easy it is to get sucked into the materialism that we are told by advertisers that we "need" or "deserve" it. When I first saw the Ugly Sweater Kit, I thought, "neat idea for ugly sweater party" and then it hit me what a wasteful society we live in...$20-$30 for an ugly sweater kit that I would likely wear the sweater once to a party and then what?

So today (and every day) help me to be thankful for everything I have been blessed with.

Day 333 - November 29, 2014

Happy Birthday Kim!!! So thankful for all the years you have been with us and pray that God will give us many more years and adventures together. We had a great time celebrating with an Amazing Race to find your present...sweet idea Savannah :)

Day 334 - November 30, 2014

The Christmas tree is up and it was nice to get a picture of the kids in front of it...who knows how many more years they will let me snap pictures of this?
