WEEK 10 ~ MARCH 4-10, 2016

I came across a good article that gave good tips on how to talk to someone with Alzheimer's Disease...

               *Understand the disease
*Learn how to get - and keep - attention
               *Prepare to repeat yourself
               *Identify yourself
*Call him or her by name
*Speak in slow, short sentences, not paragraphs
               *Be specific
               *Ask direct questions
*Avoid phrases like "Don't you remember?"
               *Offer to help
               *Don't rely on verbal communication
*Avoid talking as if he or she isn't in the room
               *Relax your tone

An early morning walk to Tim Hortons with her brother for a coffee before school...super special times.

Carsten found a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies and set to making them...the only problem was that he thought he could keep them all for himself.

Kim and I picked up the clock Mark bought me for Christmas and my birthday. Thank you Alisha's Lines & Designs for trying out this new colour for our clock...we love it!! Can't wait to get it hung up.

Alex went to visit his special friend Hope and she gave us this handmade soap she had made...I almost don't want to use it because it's so pretty. Thanks Hope!

Lots of little things this week leading up to March Break and I didn't take too many pictures...Savannah had a PD Day, the boys got report cards and did fabulously, Bible study, Pancake Breakfast and school skates topped off our week.

I had been following Joey and Rory's blog for a while and their life was a such a beautiful testimony, especially with Joey battling terminal cancer...this week Rory blogged that Joey passed away...

My wife's greatest dream came true today.  She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry.  Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.

At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last.  And a moment later took her first breath on the other side.

Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy.  There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog.  But I try.
When a person has been through as much pain and struggle as Joey's been through, you just want it to be over.  You want them to not have to hurt anymore, more that you want them to stay with you.  And so, it makes the hard job of saying goodbye just a little easier.
