WEEK 7 ~ FEBRUARY 12-18, 2016

We started this week with Savannah turning 11 and the house was brimming with excitement. Abby and Claire came over for a sleepover in anticipation for the Chopped Birthday party that Kim and Savannah planned.

Saturday morning arrived and the Chopped birthday party was ready to be enjoyed. Thank you so much for Kim for helping out with everything!! The girls had a great time cooking, the judges (Mark, Carsten and I) had fun trying the dishes and Logan even had some tastes of the yummy goodness. What can I say...Kim is a great party planner.

Carsten revealed the winning team and some of the girls could hardly look as he did it. Team Black won the competition in the end but Team Red was very close behind. Great job Chefs!

We ended the day with a birthday supper at the Open Kitchen...thanks to all who came out to celebrate another year with Savannah...Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Brian, Aunt Jenny, Ava, Jaelyn, Abby, Aunt Mel, Uncle Kyle, Uncle Jim, Aunt Audrey, Sam, Mia, Claire, Hadassah, Gerald, Sylvia, Cailyn, Jared, Addison, Kim and Logan. It was a great day!!

As if the week didn't start off with enough excitement, Fake Injury Day for the boys, Pancake Breakfast for Family Day, Skating, Sledding, Baking at Helen's, Structures Presentation for Savannah, and we ended the week with a nice visit with John and Sue. Really busy but a great week!

Alex found my crutches and we used some sports tape to give him a cast on his "broken leg", complete with signatures and doodling on it. I didn't realize how real it looked til I posted it on facebook and people were asking what happened. Fake Injury Day success.

The kids thought the Pancake Breakfast at church was the perfect way to start Family Day and after eating their fill of pancakes, eggs and sausage, the kids went off to play some games.

After spending some downtime at home, I brought the kids and Brendan to the free Family Day Skate at the arena. They had a great time zipping around the ice and jumping over the blue line.

The lower grades at Savannah's school got to have a sledding afternoon and I joined them so that I could get some pictures for the yearbook. It was sooooooo cold out but it was worth going to get some pictures of the kids having a blast!

Several ladies from Bible study were raving over the yummy Dutch sand tarts that Helen makes and she offered to teach us to bake them. We got together at Helen's house and we all made some delicious dutch treats. Thank you for having us, Helen!

Grade 5/6 broke into groups and built structures that would hopefully withstand all kinds of conditions...weather, earthquakes, etc. The groups brought their structures to a special assembly to see what they could withstand and Savannah's group's structure ended up being the most resilient.

And if you made it to the end of this crazy long post...congratulations and we will see you next week :)
