WEEK 45 ~ NOVEMBER 5-11, 2015

Keeping up with all the normal stuff the week before the fair is definitely difficult but we all push through and chip in to help out...last minute shopping trips, finishing up games, printing and cutting tickets and a little more trouble with the van...

Savannah and Mark had a lot of fun making bread from scratch for a school project, but I forgot to take a picture of the finished project 😮

The day arrived for the Fall Fair and it was a great day spent with our community supporting the school. I didn't really have much time to spend in the other areas of the Fair/Bazaar but I am looking forward to next year when I can check everything out.

Thank you so much for all the volunteers who manned areas in the Games Rooms, we appreciate your willingness to volunteer and we couldn't do it without you.

THANK YOU Kim for helping me run the Games/Prize area for the last 5 years. Couldn't have done it without your endless hours of help...from making games, buying prizes, searching for great prizes and deals, figuring out ticket prices, storing all the stuff year to year. You are AMAZING!

Walking to VV in November is not the normal but with nice weather and no snow...off we went to visit Mom/Oma...super hero leading the way and all. It is nice to take Mom out to the Whistle Shop and have coffee and treats. We also made a quick stop at the park on the way home.

I know it is not always easy to talk or carry on a conversation with a person who has Alzheimer's or dementia but here are a few good tips and remember it may take the person a little longer to answer as they have to process what you have said and to formulate an answer.

Olivia often comes along to visit Oma and all the ladies in Mom's unit love Olivia, but Pam and Olivia have a super special bond 😊 Pam is a GREAT nurse in Mom's unit and we are so grateful for the love and care she has for Mom...We love you Pam!

We were given the opportunity this week to give thanks and to honour those who put themselves in harm's way...I can not imagine what it must be like to be on a battlefield, away from loved ones, fighting for many people you don't even know. Thank you to all the men and women who have served or are currently serving Canada, for without you, we would not have the rights and freedoms we are so fortunate to have today.

While we think of the sacrifices that soldiers have made or make, I think of the ultimate sacrifice...

WEEK 44 ~ OCTOBER 29-NOVEMBER 4, 2015

This year the kids all had the same PD Days at the end of October and we took advantage of the special at Great Wolf Lodge...Gerald & Sylvia, Cailyn, Jared, Addison, Rowan, Adrian & Laura and Emily did too! We had a lot of fun splashing around the waterpark, walking Clifton Hill in the very windy cold temperature, seeing Niagara Falls, supper at The Works.

A bunch of played spoons late into the evening and it was a lot of fun seeing normally reserved people getting feisty.

After having a night away, we jumped back into routine with meetings, sports practices, appointments, visits, etc. A neat highlight was Carsten going with Mark to work on Take your Kid to Work Day...Carsten enjoyed playing around with the ATMs and the pizza lunch. Carsten noticed that his Dad has to answer a lot of peoples questions all day long.

The house kind of goes to pot when the Fall Fair comes around as we work on games and prizes. I wouldn't normally post this but I figured what's the harm? It's the ugly truth of games set up around my house making sure we have everything we need and that the fair will run smoothly. Thankfully Kim has a house where the prizes get organized. A lot of fun but a lot of work :)

It is fun when Kim and I visit Mom and there are extra visitors there :)

Logan Update:

Logan is out of surgery and all went well! (In fact, he did and is doing better then anyone expected!!) They were able to do a couple of additional scopes while he was under and everyone seems happy with the outcome. He is currently resting in PCCU only requiring a little oxygen and enjoying some extra cuddles as he recovers. Thank you for praying everyone through today!

Later in the week...Logan is going home!!!
