WEEK 41 ~ OCTOBER 8-14, 2015

This year the whole school took a trip to Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show and we all had a great time once we got into the fairgrounds...

I think most of the kids loved the stunt divers best, Check 'em out!

The Red Wings home opener was this week and we were ready for the season to begin, but were torn when a Wings game and Jays game were on at the same time!

Kim and I organize and prepare the Fall Fair Games & Prize Rooms at the school Bazaar. We scout out good deals all year long to make the prize room great but we had to make sure our prep was well under way as we were heading to the States and you just never know what cool things you will find. Kim and I have loved doing the games and prize rooms, but we have decided to take a break from running this area...hoping that someone will be willing to take it over and the fun memories will live on for the kids.

We were excited to make a roadtrip to New Jersey to visit Paul and Carol...we have been talking about it for a while and Thanksgiving was a good time to go. Kim and I left with the kids at around 3:00 am because we hoped the kids would sleep til breakfast and thankfully it worked. Sure makes the trip seem shorter :)

The first thing we did was hit Target so that Carol could help "redeem" the Target name in the eye of her Canadian family...the kids sure did find some cool things and I found an awesome game of Spoons for $1!

Saturday we got up and after a quick bite to eat, we made our way to New York for an exciting day of exploring, starting and ending the day with a ferry ride. All kinds of people were lined up to take the ferry into New York, quite a few dressed up as there was a comic book convention...as you can see by the people behind Alex in the first picture.

Let the exploring begin...

Lunch at market on Times Square street

And a trip to the American Girl store rounded out our time where we picked up a couple dolls and items for the Fall Fair Prize Room. Savannah had saved up her money and got the puppy she has wanted for quite a while.

Leaving the city and headed back to New Jersey ...

On Sunday we went for a walk and enjoyed the gorgeous nature around us.

Just relaxing and hanging around the house...

Monday morning we had to head home and it was "Tetris" packing to get everything in the van. We also almost got to take someone special home with us as she snuck into the van :D

We stopped part way home at Hobby Lobby and had a break from the driving. Mark and the boys went shopping next door while the girls browsed Hobby Lobby.

When it's too bright outside...this is what Alex does so he can see his iPod while driving places...it's pretty common to see.

What an awesome weekend! We jumped back into the reality of regular life after our time away...Bible study, meals and visits with Mom, babysitting, appointments, etc.

Savannah and Mark built this cool Lego set together.

Blue Jays baseball was a staple in our house and this week ended with an epic ALDS Game 5...The Jays ended up with the win but not without a little (or a lot) of drama...I had to take pictures as this was a game like no other...Seats became optional, not mandatory, to watch the game and even Alex was invested in the game.

So if you're not a regular Jays or baseball watcher...you may ask what was the big deal about the game? Here's an overview from SBNATION...

The Blue Jays and Rangers were tied before the seventh inning started. It was a taut, well-played game. Then THE WORLD EXPLODED, and we're still trying to figure out what happened...

With a runner on third and two outs, Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin's return throw to the pitcher hit Rangers batter Shin-Soo Choo's hand. The umpire mistakenly called time, but the runner was still allowed to score.

Angry Blue Jays fans threw trash onto the field, and someone threw trash that might have hit an infant.

In the bottom of the inning, the Blue Jays came up and grounded a ball to short. Elvis Andrus booted it.

The next batter grounded a ball to first, and Andrus couldn't handle a tough, low throw from Mitch Moreland, who picked up the error. Two on, no outs.

The next batter bunted it to Adrian Beltre, who spun and fired the ball to Andrus covering third ... and Andrus couldn't handle that.

The next batter chopped the ball to first, and Moreland's throw went to home, and Dalton Pompey slid into home, taking out Rangers catcher Chris Gimenez. The play was reviewed to see if the Rangers should have gotten the extra out at first, too. The play was upheld, and there was still just one out.

Josh Donaldson, destroyer of worlds, hit a fisted, 80-foot looper just over the head of Rougned Odor at second. One run scored, the game was tied 3-3, and the force play was picked up at second by a throw from Choo.

Jose Bautista came up and murdered a baseball dead, and now there are no more baseballs because they are all scared and hiding. It was a three-run homer, putting the Blue Jays up, 6-3.

Because Bautista admired his home run and flipped his bat into space, Rangers people started yelling at Blue Jays people. Then Blue Jays people yelled at Rangers people. Then Rangers people yelled and Blue Jays people yelled…

Benches emptied. No punches were thrown.

More trash was thrown onto the field.

Blue Jays pitcher Mark Buehrle was ejected ... even though he isn't on the roster. He was just hanging out.

After the inning, humbled and angry Rangers reliever Sam Dyson walked behind Troy Tulowitzki and slapped him on the butt. THE BENCHES EMPTIED AGAIN.

THE BENCHES EMPTIED BECAUSE ONE BASEBALL PLAYER SLAPPED ANOTHER BASEBALL PLAYER ON THE BUTT.

THEY DO THAT ALL THE TIME.

The inning just ended. You can watch the whole brilliant mess here ...
