WEEK 34 ~ AUGUST 20-26, 2015

Sometimes I shake my head and say why didn't you snap a picture of this or that...I had a moment like that this week when I didn't take a picture of Erin who came a long way to visit us. Erin brought the kids a Minion Game of Life...the kids loved playing Life with Erin when she lived here and it meant a lot to them that she came and hung out again.

The boys had a Uniform fit day as well today and while Carsten was originally opposed to uniforms, I think he may be OK with them now since they have comfy sweatshirts.

Savannah and her twin

We had some good visits and I love the time where Mark's mom decided to switch roles and she was going to push him in the chair. The ladies in CP love babies and children and when they come to visit...huge smiles are everywhere it seems.

Soccer ended this week so I will post some pictures from the season...Savannah played for Farmington Mechanical and she really had a great season! We had many beautiful nights at the soccer field to enjoy...

The boys played on the same team this year with Kevin and Deanne for Aylmer IDA and it was a lot of fun to go watch them play. Alex played defense while Carsten mainly played midfield but played a lot of goal for the tournament. The team placed 2nd during season play but went on to win the tournament!

Here are some of Carsten throughout the season

...and some of Alex playing

PRC Teammates

Can't wait to see them all play next year...

Another big highlight was a trip that we have been planning for a while. I travelled with Kim to Ottawa a couple years ago to visit her sister who had just had a baby and we promised the next time we came to visit it would be in the summer and maybe with the kids. The time had come...We left for Ottawa at around 3am so by the time the kids woke up, we would hopefully be at least half way to Ottawa and it worked like a charm. We watched the beautiful sunrise along the way.

Savannah opened her special package from Kim, aka Charlie, when we arrived in Ottawa. A new baseball glove and Blue Jays jerseys for her AG dolls!

We set off to to explore the Byward Market and surrounding area. It was a lot of fun and I can imagine it would be bustling in the summer. We would have loved to buy fresh vegetables and flowers but we had no place to store them.

We made some important stops at places that people told us we just had to visit...Sugar Mountain and Beavertails.

Our Beavertail stop was delicious but so hard to chose which ones to share...we decided to share S'mores, Apple Cinnamon, Garlic Butter & Cheese, Cinnamon & Sugar and Triple Trip.

After a Beavertail lunch, we met up with Kim's parents, her brother Daniel and sister Rebekah and her daughter Louisa  at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum which was super fun but also an educational place to visit.

Supper the first night was at Kim's parents' campsite. It was nice to hang out with her family at the campfire and the park.

We tried to have an early night as we knew the next day was going to be a big day...we were up early to head out for our River Run Rafting trip. It was a lot of fun and we would totally do it again...we were all pretty tired after.

Supper we chose The Works and it was our first time...the burgers were amazing, tower of rings were yummy and the lemonade was refreshing. The decor of the restaurant was so cool...

We ended the evening by watching the Northern Lights: Sound and Light Show...it had rained so it was a little wet out but the show was fantastic! I would recommend anyone to go see it.
